Jo Donn started her costume career at The Arts Institute At Bournemouth in 2002 Studying Costume for the Screen and Stage at degree level. During the three years of her degree she designed and made costumes from the 1600s through to the present day.
In her second year she discovered her love of Wardrobe Supervision while on international exchange to the University of Florida. There she worked as a dresser on the drama
Big Love , was 2nd costume assistant on the showcase
Dance 2004 and supervised the wardrobe team. She was also employed as a draper on
Taming of the Shrew , creating Bianca's wedding dress while working closely with the designer, and creating the 'butt ruffle' understructure that was used on all female costumes in the production.
In her third year, Jo chose to specialise in costume design. She designed the opera
The Tales of Hoffmann, giving it a sexual slant that emphasised the innuendo of the piece. For her Final Major Project she designed costumes for the musical
Grand Hotel, establishing an artistic style that combined painting, collage and Computer Aided Design. Her designs evoked the fast pace of the production showing dancing figures and swaying costumes.
In October 2006, Jo's version of Bianca's wedding dress was selected by Noisefestival.com to be showcased on their website.
